Baby shower gifts are given to help families prepare for the new member of the family. Presents range from small necessities to larger items. Whether tokens are inexpensive or costly, there is a variety of supplies and furniture to be chosen that all parents need.
Children sleep in bassinets until they are four to six months old and then move on to a crib and pad. These items make ideal presents as well as an extra mattress, bumper, and soft toys. No room is complete without a rocking chair to soothe an upset infant. A changing table furnished with necessities such as creams, powders, wipes, and diapers creates a convenient place for diaper changes.
Even if the new family member was brought home in a car seat, a second carrier would be appreciated as a spare or for a different vehicle. Carriages, walkers, and johnny jumpers are other equipment that could be presented which would save the parents from purchasing. Parents wear out diaper bags when taking the infant to appointments or other obligations so giving one or more bags filled with necessary items is another great idea
Giving clothing is always popular since there are so many styles to choose from. Onesies, socks, shoes, head wear, shirts, pants, and dresses in a variety of colors and prints are available. Attire, burp rags, and other necessities are easily stored in a bureau decorated with cute lamps, portraits, statues, and toys. Busy parents rely on a monitor to listen to their sleeping or playing child in another room.
Food-related tokens such as formula, food, and bottles are always appreciated and save the family money in the beginning. Babies also dirty many bibs every day, and utensil sets with plates, cups, and silverware are also good ideas. Although a high chair will not be needed immediately, it will be used daily in the future.
Other small gifts to consider are rattles, teething rings, pacifiers, and bath toys. An infant is too small to bathe in the bathtub so they need their own baby tub. As they grow, they easily sit upright in a tub seat ring without slipping. Shampoo, laundry soap, towels, and washcloths are also necessary items.
Listening and viewing pleasure is achieved with soothing music on CDs or cassettes and books that parents can read to their children at bedtime. Yoga videos for mothers and their young children are fun, practical, and offer excellent exercise.
Other products to consider are keepsake containers, coin banks in animal shapes, and themed clocks and night lights. Photo albums provide a place for all pictures taken, cubes display precious photos throughout the home, and decorative frames exhibit children in various stages of their life. Guests desiring to provide financial aid can do so with savings bonds and college units.
Baby shower gifts can be little or big in size and cost. Raising a child requires an assortment of items and possibly two or more of the same product. Shower guests present tokens to parents that can be used from the first day home to months or years in the future.
