How to get a better night’s sleep while pregnant

Obviously when you are pregnant there are numerous changes your body will go through. It’s important not only for yourself but also the health of the child to remain healthy by eating the most sensible foods, avoiding stress, staying reasonably active and getting regular sleep. However it it isn’t always an easy task to sleep during pregnancy as many mothers to be have reported. Most expectant moms will have cravings at unusual hours, experience cramping and finding it tricky to lie in a comfortable position especially during the latter stages of pregnancy when the body requires more sleep than usual.

1. Reduce bright lights and diversions such as Television and internet use if you can’t sleep at night
If you can’t sleep at night during pregnancy it’s important that your bedroom be considered a place of rest and recuperation. If you have got a television or PC (or any other electronic device like an Ipod) in your bedroom consider moving these into another part of the house.
2. Reduce unwanted noise
Another key element is to reduce noise in your bedroom at night. This is not only helpful information during pregnancy but will be excellent advice to follow once your baby is born and your bedroom becomes a nursery.
3. Try Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy can be handy while pregnant for helping with sleep with the healing benefits they can supply. Essential oils like Lavender and Bergamot can assist with soothing discomfort from muscle-bound aches and cramping.
4. Reduce Coffee Intake
Drinking coffee after midday can effect one’s capability to fall asleep. If you can’t sleep at night and a mid afternoon coffee is part of your routine consider bolstering with an alternative. *Remember most teas also contain caffeine so choose Chamomile which is known to help with sleep.
5. Ensure you feel comfortable in bed
