One of the biggest maternity fashion trends has been the adoption of cool baby change bags by moms to be and new mums. Gone are the days when moms would throw baby paraphenalia into whatever bag they had close at hand.
These new styles of baby changing bags hold their own in the fashion stakes yet are robust and large enough to be a practical option. When you are choosing a baby change bag you need to bear in mind that this is an investment buy which should not only see you through your child’s early days but still be around for any later additions to the family. But when you’ve finished using your bag to carry baby items, the best baby changing bag will convert effortlessly into all purpose designer bag.
When you’re choosing your change bag there are several key points you need to follow:
Fabric – you are no longer restricted to “wipe-clean vinyl” – the newest wave of change bags include bold prints and tactile fabric. Leather is the hottest trend at the moment and a leather baby change bag will not only turn heads but age well and endure the rough and tumble of the early days.
Accessories – the new style of bags include lots of accessories to make life easier for the new mum, but which can be removed when the time for fashion bag conversion arrives! Co-ordinating travel wipe holders, changing mats and insulated holders for liquids or food are handy accessories you cannot afford to be without.
One brand which has cornered the market in style and practicality is Pacapod. Pacapod first hit the scene with their unique style of baby organizer bags which have become a classic style in their own right. Finishing up the range this season are the Logan bag (which makes a perfect bag for Dads) and the roomy carry-all. Pacapod make careful selection of fabrics including leather, microfiber and fabric. The standout statement piece this season though has to be the chestnut leather Coromondel. This is a gorgeous baby change bag in baby soft leather with chunky metal hardware and adjustable shoulder strap. Effortlessly stylish it combines the best in practical design its cool features mean it is a perfect baby change bag for stylish mamas.

StorkSaks – Which Will You Choose?

The designer baby changing bags are amazingly popular due to their sheer style combined with an array of practical features. But how can you decide which StorkSak to buy when there are such a lot of choices?
Your baby change bags will be carried everywhere with you while your baby is small, so pick one you really love, and this means both in terms of style and suitability.
Elizabeth – The Elizabeth bag is a top quality bag, made of hard wearing leather with chunky metal rings, clasps and studs it looks and feels like a designer bag. It has a useful array of internal pockets, as well as a removable insulated bottle holder; externally there are more pockets and a mobile phone holder.
The Elizabeth has classic looks, and is small enough to be carried easily over your shoulder with the perfect leather handles, or across your body with the removable canvas handle. It can carry most laptops, and the inside bottle holders are removable to make more room. This is ideal as a work bag once you’ve finished carrying baby things around.
Julie The StorkSak Julie is slightly less expensive than the Elizabeth, and has a cutting edge look. With nylon satin, leather and metal hardware, this looks more like a luxury handbag than a baby bag. It has the usual amazing amount of pockets, but is slightly less high than the Elizabeth, so has a squarer, more compact feel. The Julie baby change bag has the same handy accessories (insulated bottle holder, change mat and mini bag) as the Elizabeth.
Mia – I have fallen in love with the Mia bag, which has all the style of a cool handbag, with the usual StorkSak practicality. This bag has a long adjustable handle and a magnetic clasp to fasten.
Emily – Hugely popular is the lovely Emily bag. Similarly shaped to the Mia, the Emily baby changing bag has more external pockets which are great for storing bits and bobs you want to access quickly. With brushed gold metal hardware, this is a really stylish bag!
Jamie Otherwise known as the Brad Pitt Bag (after he was seen with it), this is a stunning unisex bag your man wont mind carrying (even my bag averse man likes it!). Capacious enough to carry most laptops, and with the normal practical features, you’ll find the Jamie bag is useful for a long time. With subtle style features such as the cool canvas strap, contrast stitching and inline pockets, your friends will never notice its full of nappies.

How to Pick Maternity Jeans

Finding the right pair of jeans is a common problem for most women, but if you’re pregnant too, then where do you begin to choose the right pair of maternity jeans?
Denim is a flexible material; it gives either warmth in winter or fits cooler in Summertime. A pair of maternity jeans is a maternity wardrobe staple that can be both casual and fit for dressier occasions. Denim also can provide a wide range of styles. If you enjoyed wearing low-rise jeans pre-pregnancy, you’ll be pleased to know you can buy this style in maternity sizes as well.
Unless you are aware of the terms used by manufacturers, buying a pair of maternity jeans can be confusing and overwhelming. They come in a wide variety of styles, colours and fits so it will be easier to find the best type for your body if you understand what to look for. A smart, well-fitting pair of maternity jeans can take you right through your pregnancy to any number of occasions. whether you’re visiting friends, having a simple dinner out or simply going shopping, having a great pair of maternity jeans to pull on is a great addition to your maternity wardrobe.
While before your pregnancy you only needed to consider the shade of denim or the cut of the leg, when you’re pregnant your biggest decision you will make is what type of waistband to select.
Most pregnant women choose between “under-bump” or “over-bump.”
Under bump maternity jeans are styled with a soft band across the front which sits comfortably under your bump. The band provides an easy fit and comfortable support during pregnancy and afterwards. If you wear a top that covers the band noone will be able to tell they’re a pair of maternity jeans. So don’t be afraid to wear these for a long as you want after you’ve given birth.
“Over Bump Jeans” are styled to fit around your expanding waist and consist of a full elastic waistband so that the jeans grow with you.Often maternity jeans have a panel at the front made from soft fabric and which stretches to fit as your bump grows. This style of jeans is very adaptable and you can wear them throughout the entire pregnancy, making this style the most flexible choice of jeans.
If you are looking to add maternity trousers to your wardrobe then here are some further options. Side panels in jeans are a good choice for expecting mothers. They will fit when you grow sideways as well as at the front. These side panels are flexible and contain elastic so that they can expand with you as you grow. Many pregnant women, however, prefer the comfort of drawstring pants. These pants contain an elasticated back, but have a drawstring that can be tightened to fit the wearer properly. The drawstring can be a comfortable choice to last the entirety of the pregnancy as they can be slackened as the woman grows.

Maternity Swimwear Choices

Today there are much wider maternity swimwear choices available than there was just a few years ago.
A good reason for this is that swimming and exercising in water such as aerobics has become very popular and recommended by health professionals. Gentle exercise in water can play a very important role in pregnancy, keeping the mum-to-be healthy and in good shape for the birth and afterwards. Therefore swimsuit manufacturers have responded to this trend by producing broad ranges of practical maternity swimwear like maternity swimsuits and tankinis for mums-to-be.
Also, pregnant women themselves have influenced the growing style portfolios of swimwear designers, asking the same amounts of style and design details they are accustomed to be transferred to maternity swimwear too.
A maternity swimsuit is a one piece option suitable for the pool and beach and for swimming or water exercise such as aquareobics too in your local swimming pool.
Maternity swimsuits are made with comfort in mind. Support is often in the form of a special built in fabric shelf. However, comfort and ease is usually coupled with cool design details and stylish touches.
One fashionable idea is ruched maternity swimsuits where the material is gathered at the sides for a flattering look. Another is to use ties or bows to give a focal point to the swimsuit.
Maternity tankinis are a great nchoice for pregnant women who want to wear flattering swimwear by the pool or at the beach.
A maternity tankini is a two piece item of maternity swimwear but the tankini is a top and therefore gives much fuller body coverage than a maternity bikini would.
Also, tankinis are hot poolside fashion at the moment and so by choosing a maternity tankini, an expectant woman doesn’t have to feel as though she is losing out in the fashion stakes or having to settle for something frumpy when she could be wearing cool maternity swimwear instead.
How to Choose a Stylish Maternity Dress

A maternity dress has to be a must-buy for every pregnant woman. Even if dresses are something you would normally only wear for special occasions, you will soon appreciate the versatility and the comfort of a maternity dress – not to mention the style!
It’s one of those facts of life that as soon as you let everyone know that you’re expecting a baby, then the invites for weddings, parties and formal dinners seem to flood in! At these events you’d normally be wearing a new party dress, but it seems silly to buy something you’ll only wear during the next nine months.
Well, the point here is to buy a dress you love, but one that is versatile enough to wear at many different events. Perhaps a flexible style which can be altered to look differently, like the amazing “six way dress”, or one that can be dressed up or down with clever maternity accessories.
In terms of style and fashion, the familiar “smock dress” is not at all in maternity fashion! At the moment, pregnant women have the pick of fabulous styles – halter-necks, bold fabrics and bright colours are all commonplace. You can choose a black dress if you wish, but these days, many women choose to flaunt their bumps in scarlets, fuchsias and bold patterns.
Often pregnant women actually find that dresses are easier to wear when they’re expecting than tops and trousers too. This is because maternity dresses are cut for comfort and without an uncomfortable waistband to dig in.
But the best thing about a maternity dress has to be the adaptability. No-one considers a pregnant woman is overdressed if she’s wearing a maternity dress, so you can wear a dress each day without raising eyebrows, A dress with a jacket is perfect for work. Going out? Then accessorize with different coloured wraps or pashminas. For casual daywear, just throw on a simple cardigan and you’re ready to go!
