In today’s world there are so many baby shower traditions you can use for the shower you are planning. Some traditions are just a must have. So, you want this to be an occasion of happiness and celebration for the mom to be and her new arrival.

Primarily showers are held at someone’s home as this allows for greater socializing with the new mommy to be and keeps cost down as well. Baby showers are usually scheduled for lunch time or early afternoons, its also a wonderful way to incorporate a fun tea party into the mix as well. Everyone loves sweets as well so make cakes and biscuits for everyone to indulge in.

The shower is usually held within the last six weeks of the expectant mom’s due date. You can hold these affairs at someone’s home, your church, a restaurant (but this will not allow a lot of socializing time), in a park or at a room you have rented for the day.

Themes have become a big part of weddings, birthday and baby shower parties. So design the event with one in mind. For babies this can be a vast range of theme and colors.

For girls of course the colors pink and purple, princess, animals, fairy tale, popular girls characters like Dora etc. Or ladybugs are just a few theme ideas.

If Mommy is expecting a little boy then one of the following should be perfect as a theme: Safari or jungle, boats, sports, cowboy, little froggies, trains and cars etc. If Dad has a favorite hobby incorporate this in as well to give him a little celebrating too.

For neutral baby shower theme ideas try these: Circus, baby animals, moon and stars, the alphabet, ducks, teddy bears and more. Colors should be in yellows and greens and you could use red and black as well its your preference.

Playing games is a tradition every baby shower includes. Come up with fun ways of using baby items as games. Such as the baby food challenge, baby name game, baby bingo or name that famous baby game.

To save on invitation costs buy card stock for your computer and design your own. With a desktop publishing program you can create cards and more. Let the mum to be make them if she is up to it and remember to make them personal. You can even send those who have internet access e-vites online that are just as beautiful.

Favors for all attending guests is also a must on the tradition lists. These are not very expensive but show your gratitude for everyone joining the mommy to be in this joyous occasion. Mini candles in shapes that go with the baby themes, candies in baby bottles, personalized things like note cards, magnets or bookmarks which carry the baby’s name if known and the shower date on them are just some creative ideas for you to consider.

One of the important baby shower traditions is for the expectant mother to thank everyone by sending thank you cards after the shower This is a must as it is respectful. These should be sent to everyone who attended as well as anyone who sent her a gift.
