Harmful Compounds In Cheap Baby Containers

Did you know that many plastics will leech toxic chemicals in to your food or drink? This makes no difference whether it comes from a water jug or a baby bottle. There have even been studies to suggest that these same chemicals can leech out of plastic when heated in a microwave.

Even plastic that lines the inside of cans and jars can leech in to the food or liquid that is contained in. But plastic is used in so many things that it may not be possible to avoid it completely. BPA and PVC are the two main chemicals that are in question.

If you are pregnant then you should avoid eating anything that has been stored in plastic to avoid any problems. Not only can these chemicals harm an unborn child but they can hurt you as a mother as well.

You can identify containers by looking for an SPI code or recycle triangle. These will usually be accompanied by specifications of the plastic. If you have located these types of symbols and identification they will usually contain BPA and should be avoided.

I mentioned SPI codes so let us look at that for a moment. When you have located the recycle triangle you will see a number within the center of it. If you see the number one then you can assume that the plastic is BPA free and shouldn’t be of any harm to you. A number two is also safe but used in toys. The number five is usually used for cold food items like butter. There are many other types of plastics that were given a number of 7 but I don’t recommend you trust them regardless of what the safety organizations will tell you.

Educating yourself on the different types of plastics will help reduce the chances of you hurting yourself or your baby. The best way I can think of it is to just avoid using plastic all together.
