Funky Maternity Clothes That Last

Why should you have to change your style from funky to drab just because you are pregnant? While that might once have been the case, there are now many funky styles of maternity clothes available for your wearing pleasure.

There is no need to hide yourself when you are pregnant. Instead you should be out and about, enjoying life to the fullest. In order to do this you need to have clothes that not only fit comfortably, but also show off your personal style and personality.

With a variety or designs, prints and materials available, there is no need to be stuck with shapeless, dull maternity clothes. Add some funk to your wardrobe with chic patterned maternity tops with flowing sleeves or baby-doll styling. Or in cooler weather choose a comfy hoodie, or a cardigan that layers well with a stylish v-necked top.

For bottoms you can choose from slimming leggings to boot-cut jeans without sacrificing pregnancy comfort. Walking shorts, mid-length pants or even short shorts can be found designed with the pregnant woman in mind.

If you prefer skirts you can choose from full length to knee length skirts. There are wrap-around styles and flowing materials, or stretchy fabrics that accentuate the beauty of your baby belly. Dresses also range widely in style with formal dresses both designed to accentuate the positives of your pregnancy while drawing the eye away from places that are less flattering in the maternal figure.

Many designers that create funky maternity clothes make an effort to produce garments that not only work well for pregnancy, but also look good as every-day wear. Some are designed with panels for breastfeeding so that they can last well after your baby arrives.

Maternity clothes should not just be cover-ups for your expanding maternal figure. They should offer you comfort and style that lasts. Pick clothes that not only compliment your current figure, but that can be used during the transitional months after your baby arrives and before your body returns to it pre-pregnancy size.

Do you want to look hot in designer maternity clothes?

If you’re shopping in your local department store for designer maternity clothes, you won’t find much to choose from, that’s for sure. And trying to find a pair of designer maternity jeans is worse then looking for a needle in a haystack. When even a super model like Heidi Klum refuses to wear designer maternity clothes, you know you’re in trouble. If she can’t find designer maternity clothes that she likes, how are the rest of us supposed to?

When you’re pregnant and carrying around that baby bump, you want comfortable clothes and I’ve always felt most comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt. But not just any jeans. I like designer jeans best. They just have that extra little pizzazz to them that regular, off the rack jeans can’t seem to carry off.

In the beginning stage of my pregnancy, I was able to continue wearing my low rise jeans and I just let them ride under my belly. I even bought a bigger size, too, but that only helped for another month. One of my friends suggested that I raid my husband’s closet and try his jeans and, while they were comfortable, they just weren’t my style. I might be pregnant, but that doesn’t mean I have go give up my designer clothes. So I finally figured it was time to go on a search for designer maternity jeans.

Like I said, I wasn’t able to find many decent maternity jeans in my local stores. Oh, I found a few here and there like at the Gap and Old Navy. But I wanted designer jeans, so I decided to try my luck and see what I could find on line. And I came across Sierra Maternity who just happens to have a huge selection of designer maternity jeans! And they even carry two of my favorite designers – Citizens Of Humanity and True Religion. Of course, they also carry maternity jeans by Rock & Republic, Hudson, and Paige, too.

When I looked further into their website, I found that they also carry all sorts of fabulous designer maternity clothes like Juicy Couture, Ingrid & Isabel, Bump Couture and ChiaraKruza maternity wear. They offer pants, skirts, short, tops, even coats and bathing suits, and all by fabulous designers.

As I continued to search I found a lot of other websites, too, that carried designer maternity clothes, like A Pea In The Pod. Now THAT website has a LOT to offer. So if you’ve got your heart set on designer maternity wear, don’t give up. There are plenty of shops on line for you to find any designer you want.

Finding Plus Size Maternity Clothes For You!

When I started shopping for Plus Size Maternity Clothes it quickly became apparent that I was about to become a celebrity. I was about to become famous. My face would be on the cover of fashion magazines and my name would be plastered in headlines around the world. People would come from near and far to stand in line for days on end just to get one look at me. Why, they might even give me some kind of title or even a crown. I’d be treated like royalty. Because apparently, by the looks of the maternity clothes I was finding in the shops, only women who are size 14 or smaller get pregnant!

When I found out I was pregnant, I didn’t expect, at size 20, to be able to just walk into any store and find an enormous selection of plus size maternity clothes. I mean, it’s hard enough finding decent plus size clothes when you’re not pregnant. Manufacturers are only just beginning to realize that there are a lot of us plus size women out here and we’d like to look fashionably in something other than a tent or a caftan. But when I started looking for plus size maternity clothes I didn’t expect to find nothing at all. I mean, what do these people think? Do they think that nobody gets pregnant if they wear a size larger than 14?

The good news is that, while plus size maternity clothes may still be difficult to find at the mall or your neighborhood department store, there are more and more resources available online. Shops like 2Chix.com, Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug, Motherhood.com, and even Old Navy are increasing the styles they offer to plus size pregnant women. These online retailers realize that life doesn’t stop if you’re not a size 12.

When shopping on line for plus size maternity clothes, make sure to keep your measurements in mind and allow plenty of room for growth. You may be a size 18 at the beginning of your pregnancy, but chances are, as your pregnancy progresses, you may gain another size. Most maternity clothes are made to allow for this increase, but, as we plus size women know, in our sizes the manufacturers don’t always follow all the norms.

Fortunately for pregnant women, no matter what the size, clothing with an empire waist has come back in style. I used to hate these baby doll dresses and shirts because I thought they made me look pregnant, but they’re a staple in my closet now. With some of the baby doll shirts I have, I like to tie a ribbon or sash just under the bust line to highlight my baby bump but usually they work as a fashionable statement all by themselves. And I found a beautiful black dress with an empire waist for the holidays. I sewed a bright red ribbon along the empire seam line that drew lots of attention to my belly and you wouldn’t believe the number of compliments I received on that dress. My pregnant friends are always asking to borrow it.

When shopping for plus size maternity clothes, just like any other time in your life, shop wisely and get yourself a couple of really nice pieces that you can mix and match with other items in your wardrobe. Even us plus size girls need a closet full of maternity clothes!

It may not have been the case in the past, but these days being an expectant mother, or a mother who is nursing a young baby does not mean that you have to sacrifice all dress sense and style. The maternity and nursing clothes which are available in the shops today are designed to be comfortable and practical while at the same time making sure that you look great.

There are lots of different lines of nursing clothes which are available, including Prego maternity nursing wear, Motherwear, Mother Two Be and many more. In addition, more than just practical daytime wear is offered, with many also offering comfortable nightwear and evening dresses and gowns so that you can look stylish whatever the occasion.

There are lots of different things besides style which you will probably want to look for in nursing clothes however. For example they are likely to be of little use if they dont offer ready access at mealtimes. If the nursing clothes are not machine-washable that is also likely to cause you inconvenience as the very nature of nursing a young baby means that they will probably need to be washed regularly, quickly and easily. Buys moms dont have time to be hand-washing clothes!

Front-tie nursing dresses are one design which are likely to offer all of the aforementioned benefits. If you wear an empire waist nursing dress this will be flattering to your curvy figure and also has discrete side openings so you dont need to worry about becoming exposed. Many of the designs of nightwear available are equally practical. For example wearing a sleeping bra in bed can help you get a better nights sleep with added support. Night gowns and pajamas are also available along with soft cotton tops, and boxer sets offer a comfortable but sexy alternative.

Searching online may lead you to a wide range of styles of tops, dresses, gowns, nightwear and underwear in a huge variety of sizes, including small all the way up to plus sizes.
