Different Methods for Conceiving a Girl Child

If youve been doing any research online to improve your chances of conceiving a girl then you no doubt have found that most of the different methods are contradictory. Some claim you should have sex as close to ovulation as possible for a girl and others suggest trying to conceive at least 5 days before and no sooner. So which method is right?

In this article, I’ll look at the three most popular gender selection methods for conceiving a girl so you can make your own mind up which one is the best.

Shettles Method

Ask most people which method for conceiving a girl they should try and they will probably say the Shettles method as it’s the most well known gender selection theory. The Shettles method states that to have a girl baby the couples must have intercourse no sooner than three days prior to ovulation for the best chances of getting a girl.

The Shettles Method boasts a 77% success rate for getting pregnant with a female child.

Method: Whelan

The Whelan Method also relies on timing intercourse around when the woman ovulates, but contradicts the Shettles Method in saying that the best time to conceive a girl is when you notice a rise in temperature using charting methods. Using basal body temperature as a guide, Whelan suggests than as soon as you notice the half degree rise in temperature that means that you have just ovulated and therefore you should aim to have intercourse as soon as possible afterwards to get a girl.

The success rate for the Whelan method is claimed to be around 57% for a girl.

O+12 Method

Becoming more popular with women trying for a girl baby is the O+12 method which states that you should have intercourse around twelve hours after you believe you have ovulated to get pregnant with a girl. This method was developed by a New Zealand lady after she had six unsuccessful attempts at trying for girl (she had boys each time) using the Shettles method.

The O+12 Method is said to have a 90% success rate (although no clinical trials have ever been done using this as it is very difficult to pinpoint the exact ovulation time unless you have an ultrasound machine).

Conceive A Boy Baby Naturally

Gender selection is becoming more and more common in society as couples try and conceive either a boy baby or a girl baby or at least put the odds of having their chosen child in their favour. This article will go over how you can have a boy baby naturally using the Shettles Method, which favours timing sex close to ovulation.

First off I need to let you know that trying for a baby boy is a lot more fun then trying for a girl. For a start its encouraged for the women to have an orgasm during sex (or immediately after) as this not only helps move the sperm up and into the cervix, but also changes the vaginal environment to more alkaline which favors the male sperm.

Your aim to get a boy baby is to have sex as close to your ovulation day as possible so that the fast moving boy sperm will be able to reach the egg first and therefore dramatically increase your odds of having a boy baby.

Obviously for this method to work correctly you’ll need to know when you ovulation in your cycle as timing is crucial. If you aim for your lovemaking to occur on your ovulation day or within a few hours of releasing your egg the fast moving sperm will get their first.

You can determine your ovulation day by using ovulation predictor kits or charting your temperature, or even using one of the new saliva monitors if thats easier for you.

Once your ovulation day has been determined, you will know that lovemaking then will increase your odds of that male sperm fertilizing an egg which will give you that boy baby you’ve been praying for.

Another thing that will help improve your odds of getting a male child is by using sexual positions that place the sperm right at the tip of the cervix so that the fast moving male sperm doesn’t have as far to travel. The doggy position (rear entry) has the best success rate of getting a boy for this reason.

Therefore if you are trying for a boy baby, then you need to take into account the following three factors: 1. timing intercourse as close to ovulation as possible 2. using positions that deposit sperm close to the cervix, and 3. altering the pH levels to more alkaline.

Nursing Bras Guide

Having a baby is one of the most miraculously special times in a woman’s existence. It is important for a mother to bond with her baby and breastfeeding is one way to accomplish that. Thus, it is of paramount importance that a mother be comfortable during this time with the right nursing bras.

Make certain that the nursing bra fits correctly. Well-fitted nursing bras should sit flat on your breastbone and provide full breast coverage. Most lactation consultants can help fit you for a correctly sized nursing bra. Purchase nursing bras close to your due date, or even after your baby arrives. Your bust line will grow bigger toward the end of your pregnancy, and again when your milk comes in.

A bra that doesn’t fit correctly can block your milk ducts and cause decreased milk production. Also, plugged milk ducts can become infected that can lead to mastitis. All women are different and therefore, what might be a good nursing bra for some, may not be the right nursing bra for others.

If possible, it is best to avoid wearing under wire nursing bras, especially in the early postpartum weeks. However, some women, especially those with plus size cups, opt for an under wire nursing bra as they feel they get more support and avoid backaches. If you do choose under wire bras, then it is vital that it fits perfectly.

Nursing bras with flaps are designed for discreet breastfeeding in public. Many bras for nursing are made so that the material that covers the breast can be detached without having to undo the bra. The flaps should be easily opened and refastened with only one hand. Your other arm will be holding a hungry baby, so it is important to choose a bra with fasteners that you can open without looking at them. Nursing bras with flaps are generally the most expensive because of the amount of convenience that they provide.

There are nursing bras without flaps and under wires that can easily be pulled to one side with one hand which are usually made of softer fabrics. While this type is often cheaper and very comfortable, be sure that it also offers you enough support.

Purchase as many bras as you can afford, you don’t necessarily need one for each day of the week but remember that you will be producing a lot of milk and will suffer from leaky breasts, so you will need to wash your nursing bras frequently. The main things to look out for are: cotton bras, as they will help keep your nipple cool and dry; and good, wide straps that are going to give you lots of support.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that nursing bras have to be unflattering. There are various styles and colors to choose from, and they are every bit as sexy as the bras you wore before you were pregnant. There is no such thing as the best nursing bra. Buy the one that gives you the best support, is easy for you to use and gives you the greatest confidence. The Internet is a great place to find the maternity clothing that is right for you.

Does Oolong Tea Cause Headaches?

Oolong tea is a mixture of both black and green teas and because of this some may wonder does Oolong tea cause headaches. The fact is that Oolong tea has been around for centuries and it has been believed that drinking this tea can relieve headaches! So what is the real reason for headaches? Let’s look at what makes up Oolong tea for a better understanding of why a person may experience headaches.

All teas go throught a fermentation process. Black tea goes through the process and through that black tea contains about 40mg of caffeine per cup. So this type of tea should be drank in limited quantities. It so happens that oolong tea is made up of some black tea. So if you drink a lot of oolong tea headaches can occur.

The other mixture of oolong tea is green tea. Green tea contains less caffeine per cut around 20mg. It contains many antioxidants that help to fight cancer and heart disease.

Doctors from all over the world have found that drinking tea in limited quantities when you have a headache actually relieves the headache. They recommend it in different amounts depending on your body size and build. The people of China have been using it for many years for this medicinal purpose.

People will become dependent on the caffeine from tea if they drink too much. Sometimes headaches occur when you go through withdrawals by not drinking enough tea or caffeine. On the opposite if you never drink beverages that contain caffeine you can also shock your body and headaches can happen.

Additionally, oolong tea can cause headaches from all the powerful antioxidants it contains. The antioxidants are drank to remove free radicals, waste, and toxins from the body. When you are going through this cleansing process your body can produce headaches while the toxins are being flushed out.

So does Oolong tea cause headaches? Not in the essence that it’s the tea that is causing the headache, it may be one of the underlying reasons mentioned above.

Adorable, But Durable, Baby Furniture

If you are expecting a baby soon, you must be looking for new baby furniture. You will want to look closely and choose wisely the furniture for your baby because you will enjoy this stage for months to come. However, baby products are marketed very heavily making choosing confusing, especially for new parents.

The main furniture items you will need include a crib, changing table, a chest or dresser, a rocking chair and a car seat. The first thing you need to take into consideration when choosing baby furniture is that safety always comes first. Your baby will probably spend more time in the nursery than anywhere else, so making sure that the furniture is safe as it can possibly be should always be your first priority.

Cribs are vital part of baby nursery furniture, it is the only place you should ever consider leaving your baby unattended, even for a short time. Choose a baby crib that is made from quality materials. They are often made of wood or iron. You may decide on purchasing a 3 in 1 crib. These very unique cribs can be converted from a crib into a toddler bed, and then into a day bed or full size bed.

It is great to place your infant on a comfortable changing table with all the necessary items close at hand. Most changing tables have shelves underneath the tabletop where you can keep everything you need for changing your baby. Also look for safety features, such as guardrails and perhaps even safety straps, and of course it needs to be well padded.

You will be able to find storage closets, dressers or chests in the baby furniture line for holding all the baby things. The storage furniture should have enough drawers for fitting all the babies clothing and accessories nicely. Also, you should check for easy glide and for durability.

If you have a car, or you ride in a car regularly, you need an infant car seat. A car seat is critical for safety, and it’s often the law. You can opt for a car seat made specifically for infants, which often has a useful carrying handle. Then when your child is about a year old, you’ll need to move up to another front-facing car seat.

A nursery would not be complete without a rocking chair. The rocking chair is an indispensable piece of baby furniture for both you and your baby. It’s important to choose one that is comfortable for you as you will be able to sit and enjoy reading to, cuddling up and just holding your new baby while rocking away the time.

Instead of a crib, a bassinet, cradle, or Moses basket can be used from birth until around 4 months. The baby may feel more at ease in the smaller, cozier space than in a crib. Plus, you can carry these small portable baby beds from room to room, letting you keep a closer watch over your sleeping baby. You can put off buying baby furniture such as strollers and high chairs until quite a few months after baby is born as you won’t need them straight away. Baby monitors are also very useful wireless security tools; it reassures parents that all is well with the infant or toddler when they are not physically in the same room.

Pregnancy After Hitting 40

May 8, 2009 by Shola Oslo

It’s no surprise that many women are uncomfortable with the idea of pregnancy after 40. There are many reasons that are cited for why this is, but in fact it turns out that these are often misconceptions about the potential hazards and not necessarily medically relevant. Some of those misconceptions are:

a) Lowered fertility with age,

b) Experiencing premature delivery or miscarriage,

c) A high probability of delivery by c-section and

d) Having a baby with congenital defects, among others

Even though these risks and fears tend to be more prevalent for older, more mature women they are by no means guaranteed and should not rule out the possibility of conception after the age of 40.

Statistically, 40% more pregnancies are had after age 40 than before, showing that women these days are enjoying different lifestyles than in the past. These numbers are expected to go up, hopefully convincing at least some women of the lack of danger associated with later pregnancies. One other thing that may help convince women is the increase in safe and reliable methods for improving fertility.

The natural inclination of many women is to take the well-known route of fertility clinics, drugs and operations, quickly accumulating debt in the process. Yet not enough of them have taken into account any type of natural and non-invasive therapy in their quest to conceive.

One definitive aspect of alternative medicine that surpasses the aims of conventional medicine is that it strives to harmonize and enrich one’s body in a fundamental way, not just as a quick fix approach to a problem. The options available are numerous, including holistic, natural, non-toxic and various other methods. Some of these are opposed by the modern medical bigwigs who try to impose their views on the world, claiming alternative medicine is untested and unproven. They advise not getting pregnant after 40 based solely on their textbook guidelines and traditional mode of thinking. But the act of throwing those old conventions and notions out of the window has allowed alternative medicine to break new ground and offer people something that conventional medicine can’t.

Moreover, something worth noting as regards to infertility is the Follicle Stimulating Hormone commonly referred to as the FSH. FSH is the hormone that encourages the production of eggs meaning that if you have a low ovarian reserve and this is compounded by poor egg quality then conception becomes tricky.

Another monkey wrench that’s thrown into the gears with that method is that studies have shown high FSH can actually cause infertility. The dramatic downsides of the therapy highlight the need for a top-down approach to medicine in favor of the typical quick-fix routine.

There is a very strong difference between treating a medical issue with a pill versus taking care of the body as a whole. Whereas a doctor may prescribe something like Clomid for FSH, an alternative medicine approach to the issue would be to change one’s diet, boost the immune system, aid in cleansing and detoxing, enhance the body’s fertility with natural goods and stimulate quality, healthy egg production.

It is not to say that conventional treatments do not work. They do; but they have also been known to be ineffective and unsuccessful for a growing number of women. It is therefore a much safer and possibly cheaper choice for many women today desiring to achieve pregnancy after 40 to seek out more natural fertility solutions like the Mature Mothers Kit which with the backing of science, has been confirmed to increase a womans fertility by as much as 660%.

The Truth About Paternity Testing

May 8, 2009 by Jane Bear

A paternity test is the test that determines the likelihood that a man is the biological father of the child. A paternity test can provide unequivocal results in cases where there is any doubt as to the identity of a child’s father, such as where a mother’s fidelity is in question, or in some legal child support or custody cases.

Paternity testing is done by DNA paternity test analysis of the three individuals, although older methods have included ABO blood group typing, analysis of various other proteins and enzymes, or using HLA antigens. Prenatal paternity testing, viability test, and in-home testing are the test options available in undergoing a paternity test.

Mothers who undergo prenatal paternity testing wish to determine the paternity even before the baby is born. You can choose amniocentesis or CVS (chronic villi sampling). Concerns that arise when having the amniocentesis are the risk of aborting the fetus, injury to the fetus and other risks. So, if you decide to go for a prenatal paternity test, it is best to discuss it with your physician or gynecologist beforehand to ensure that you are not in danger.

Viability test uses remarkable samples to check for the DNA. This is commonly used when the alleged father is not present or cannot be found. In this process, preserved samples like hair, body tissues, and blood are being used.

If you simply want to know “discretely” who the father of a child is, then a home-conducted paternity test is for you. Do-it-yourself kits use the buccal swab to get the needed material, this swab placed into the mouth and performing a quick swipe of the inside of the cheek. Once the samples have been taken, they are sent to a lab for testing. The DNA material that was collected from the man in question as well as from the baby is then processed in the lab for possible matches. However, it must be kept in mind that the result derived from this process is not admissible in court.

It is possible to undergo a world of different types of DNA paternity testing, whether for personal or legal circumstances. People who do it for personal reasons usually wouldn’t want other people to know about it. Legal paternity tests can be used to settle adoption issues and settle child-support disputes.

There can only be two outcomes in DNA paternity testing. The first is a “no-match scenario”, known as exclusion where the possibility of the individual being the biological father of the child is eliminated. The second is a “match” scenario, wherein there is a degree of certainty associated with the likelihood that the alleged male is the biological father of the child.

Many lives have been forever changed with paternity testing. So, it is very important that you fully anticipate all potential outcomes before the paternity testing is conducted. The Internet is a great place to purchase a home DNA paternity testing kit.

Information on Being Single Parents

May 8, 2009 by Jane Bear

Single parenting is already becoming a rapidly growing trend in the society today. Studies show, that in the United States alone, there are four single parents to every ten parents and there are two single parents for every 10 adults.

Single parenting can be the result of a voluntary decision, such as those women who choose to have a child by artificial insemination and those unmarried persons who adopt children. Women who become pregnant outside of marriage, or those parents who are widowed, divorced, or simply deserted by their spouses are all single parents.

More of single parent homes are female than male. The reason for this is that mothers are the one who gave birth to the child, so the mother and child have a stronger connection than with the fathers. But whatever the sex of the parent, parenting alone raises some unique challenges.

The problem being faced by a family headed by a woman is that the women’s social position in society is still weaker than that of the men. Single mothers have to deal with the gender-based limitations of gaining employment, and they also have to cope with a demanding family. But in spite of this, females are known for being more emotional and show these emotions more often than men and they are more likely to nurture their children.

Society dictates that the father works and brings home money. Being a single parent, fathers can be found helping kids with their homework, they do the house chores, they help out in the kitchen and other previously considered “mother” roles. Financial issues are not really a problem with single dads, as they tend to have higher positions in the work force, giving them higher salaries.

Being a single parent is a great challenge; they must juggle the demands of work, homework, house cleaning, and dealing with the financial aspects of running a family. Many children benefit from the increased attention that a single parent will often bestow in the absence of a spouse. Being brought up in a single parent home often makes children more mature, more self-reliant, and more responsible at a younger age.

Due to the constraints of parenthood, the time is often spent between work and taking care of the children rather than going out with friends or dates. Single parents won’t have much time at all for yourself; in essence, your ‘self’ will be all about the children.

Single parenting provides a unique opportunity for a mother or father to influence the development of their children without the hindrance that having a partner can often bring. It is said that if a child has one stable parent in their lives that they can depend on, they will be ok, and you can be that person for your child.

How To Conceive A Baby Girl Step By Step

May 7, 2009 by Tracey Furness

If you’ve been dreaming of painting the nursery pink with frills and bows because you want a girl baby then read on. This article will go over the ways that you can improve your chances of getting the girl baby of your dreams. Whether you are trying for your first child or your fifth, with what we now know about gender selection, the task just got a whole lot easier.

There are many things that you can do to improve your odds of getting pregnant with a girl baby including when you have intercourse in your cycle, the types of foods you eat (which alter the pH levels of your body) and the positions you use during lovemaking.

So lets look at those factors in more detail.

Firstly, timing. To be successful in using timing to get a daughter you need to know when you ovulate. The sperm that makes female babies is relatively slow but also very strong and has been known to live up to 5 days inside the womans body waiting for the egg. In contrast the sperm that makes males is fast and while it would win the race to the egg by speed, it is quite weak and often dies off within a day or two.

By determining your usual ovulation day (either by using OPKs or charting your temperature (BBT) you need to start trying for that baby at least a week before you are due to ovulate and stop within three days of your expected ovulation day. This will make sure that any male sperm would have died off by the and only female sperm will remain ready to fertilize the egg.

Using different positions that favour a girl baby can also be used to increase your chances. Those positions that allow for shallow penetration are better because it means that the sperm has a longer distance to travel – something that will favour the stronger female sperm.

Finally, food also plays a part in your role to conceive a daughter. Certain foods help change your vaginal secretions to more acidic which favors the female sperm more. Those foods include fruits, juices and sweets. I guess the sugar and spice and all things nice really do apply to baby girls!

These three factors really well help you improve your chances of getting a baby girl. And while there is no guarantee that you will get the child of your choosing, you know you gave it the best chance of making it happen.
