Understand Your Ovulation Cycle And Get Pregnant

If you are trying to get pregnant and start a family, it is important to know about your ovulation cycle so that you can predict your ovulation and have sex on the optimal days for conception.
We consider the first day of your period to be the beginning of your menstrual cycle, since it is a date that can be determined with some certainty. That is also why doctors use it for projecting a future due date if you get pregnant, since most people don’t know for sure when fertilization actually occurred. It would be so much more convenient if we could actually see what’s going on inside!
In this new cycle, (usually) one egg starts to mature in your ovaries and prepares to get released during ovulation. The body triggers ovulation by increasing the Lutenizing Hormone (LH) in your blood stream, which is why most of urine-based ovulation tests (sometimes known casually as “pee sticks”) as well as saliva ovulation sticks check for the level of LH in your bodily fluids for an indication of recent LH surge as preliminary to ovulation.
Another way of predicting your ovulation is through the charting of your basal temperature. This requires a very accurate thermometer, one that can measure your temperature to the hundreds of a degree. For charting to work correctly, you need to take your temperature immediately after you wake, before you start moving and increasing your body temperature that way. Hormonal shifts in your body will reflect in changes in your resting temperature, so if you take your temperature consistently and graph them, you will see trends that give indications of the changes inside your body.
If you can predict your ovulation, then it is easy to calculate the best days for getting pregnant. Sperm can survive inside a woman for up to 3 days, so the five or six days around ovulation, from about two days before to about three days after ovulation are the peak fertility days. During that time the mature egg is traveling on its way from the ovary down to the uterus; too early and the sperm won’t be around when the egg is ripe, too late and your body will be ready to clean house again with the next menstrual period.
There are several difficulties with predicting your ovulation using either ovulation tests or charting. Since ovulation tests only look for the presence of the LH surge, it cannot tell you in advance and you lose the 2 days previous to ovulation where you are still fertile. Charting, on the other hand, can often be complicated, both to accurately record the temperature and to decipher the graphs for signs of hormone changes. An easier modern solution that can tell you of all your fertile days is the Clearblue Fertility Monitor.

IVF: Dealing With Your Concerns

A significant amount of couples who could benefit from IVF treatment fail to take advantage of it. Although roughly half of the three million infertile couples in the U.S. seek medical intervention to have a child, the overwhelming majority do not ultimately go through with IVF. This is the case even when they meet all of the criteria and their chances of successfully having a baby by under-going the treatment are relatively high.
So, what are the barriers that lead to so many people not going ahead with IVF? The answer is not entirely straightforward, because what is a stumbling block to one couple can prove to be irrelevant to another. It is fair to say, however, that there are some common issues that seem to be regularly brought up by the majority of would-be IVF candidates.
One is that it is risking the health of the mother or baby. Another is that it is expensive and unaffordable. A third is that it is inconsistent with religious or moral beliefs. A fourth is that the mother, or even the father, will be unable to fulfill their professional and personal obligations whilst the treatment is going on.
However, all of these issues can successfully be addressed, and none of them should be considered to be insurmountable. By spending some time learning about what exactly IVF involves - there are plenty of reliable online sources from which to gather this information - and having discussions with couples who have previously undergone the treatment and experienced IVF professionals, couples will find that their worries are unjustified.
That is not to say that IVF is the best option for every infertile couple, in some cases it is not, but it should at least be one of the options which is given serious consideration as part of the decision-making process. Simply dismissing it could well be one of the biggest mistakes that a couple ever makes.

Herbal Treatments To Maximize Fertility Part Two
This is part two in a three part series on increasing fertility with the use of natural herbs. This series of articles examined substances commonly found in nature that were used through time as aids to increase fertility. Part one covered a variety of plants that increase fertility including the red clover, liferoot, wild carrot, dried clover blossom, wild yam and partridge berry. We will examine a number of other plants and traditional recipes in this article.
Mitchella blooms in the spring with gorgeous white flowers so watch for them and is a helpful plant that can assist in increasing fertility in women. (In the forest in Winter or Spring, the Mitchella sports shiny red berries. Adding picked leaves to a small jar and then adding apple cider viniegar until the jar is filled will make a medical vinegar. The jar must remain in a comfortably warmed or cooled room for 6 weeks before use, this is after wax paper has been placed over the top and a rubber band secures it and it must include the date on it.
This tasty vinegar preparation can be used as salad dressing or a topping for beans, but use no more than one tablespoon. The herb liferoot is also known as Senecio aureus begins to bloom with gorgeous gold flowers around my upstate Long Island swamp and also along the roads where the soil is loose and full of nutrients.
This amazing wild flower has medicinal uses for all its parts. The root can be poisonous so I limit use to the flowers and leaves which are harvested while in bloom and processed quickly. Three to eight drops of this tincture, taken for fourteen days out of each month will increase libido and stabilize the menstrual cycle to relieve unpleasant menstrual symptoms and increase fertility. Senecia Jacobia and Senecio Vulgaris are related herbs that can also be used.
This ends the second part of this series, for complete information be sure to read part one. In the final installment of this article will be discussing herbs that can have contraceptive effects that you will want to avoid if you are trying to get pregnant.

Tips to Conceive a Baby

Are you looking for tips on how to conceive a baby easily? If this is the case there are a great many things that you can try. Firstly, you’ve got the know you are not alone as there are millions around the globe with difficulties getting pregnant. Once you have reached the end of this article you should know some useful tips on how to conceive a baby quickly and without resort to fertility drugs.
One of the major causes of infertility is a low sperm count in the male. If you have yet to visit a doctor, but have been trying to conceive for a while it is advisable to see a doctor who can tell you if your sperm count is adequate. If you find that the sperm count is not the problem, at least there is something to take off the list. If you find out that sperm count is the problem, not to worry, there are plenty of things to try and remedy it. The very first thing that all men trying to conceive a baby should do is to stop drinking caffeine and its probably a good idea to test if there are deficiencies in the body such as zinc. Lacking in essential vitamins and minerals can be a reason for a lowered sperm count. Smoking is another way to drastically decrease your sperm count.
There is a sexual position which is more conducive to conception. The missionary position is the most conception-friendly (due to publishing restrictions I can’t go into the details here but details are available on our website).
After sex it is important for the woman to lay in bed for about fifteen or twenty minutes. Putting your feet in the air or anything elaborate like that is not really necessary, just stay horizontal for a while. Not using the restroom is also important for at least half an hour or thereabouts after sex.
Finding your most fertile time in the cycle through the basal temperature method can actually really impede conception because normally when a rise in temperature is noted, the egg is well and truly dead by this time. It is commonly held that the basal temperature can tell you your most fertile times - even doctors tell you this method is good. This is totally incorrect! Basal temperature readings can be used to ascertain many things - but your fertile time is not one of them.
One of the best tips on how to conceive fast by knowing the most fertile time in your cycle is to check your cervical fluid and start to chart the changes in that. The last day of the type of cervical fluid that looks like eggwhites is when you are most fertile - if you can’t determine an eggwhite mucus, then look for the wettest type of fluid, or a wet sensation.
Without a healthy diet and good exercise routine the chances of falling pregnant are even lower. There is no understating the importance of healthy food and regular exercise if you have been having trouble conceiving. Many couple neglect their diets in the stress of trying for a baby, but (especially for the woman) your body needs to be in great shape in order for it to allow a pregnancy, and be able to sustain a healthy baby.
By starting to observe the daily changes in your cervical fluids, you can start to understand where you are in your monthly cycle. If you keep doing this for a couple of months you can start to understand your cycle much better, and actually recognise the signs of ovulation and your most fertile times and thereby have a much more accurate measure of when the best time to start trying for a pregnancy is.

No practice is infallible when it comes to influencing the gender of your baby. In truth, the ideas and recommendations can make a slight difference, but at the end of the day mother nature has the absolute say. On the other hand if you can coordinate the techniques in a rigorous manner then the influence you have over baby gender may be increased further. So with this in mind, here is one technique that might help you. It deals with the varieties of cuisine you should consume if you want to conceive a baby boy.
The type of foods you eat applies to the woman (as opposed to the guy) and it relates to before conception rather than after it. Once the baby is conceived, it’s sex is already determined. So the reason to eat certain types of foods is to benefit the male sperm as this is the decisive factor in determining the sex of the baby. Sperm that fertilize an egg to produce a baby boy are thought to be faster moving yet have a shorter lifespan. By altering the PH degree within the vagina, you can boost the existence of the boy creating sperm. You aspire to make the PH level more alkaline and this can be done by eating certain foods. Foods that make your body more alkaline include things like fresh vegetables.
So here are a few ideas to try (although not an exhaustive list) :
* Peas * Carrots * Lettuce * Beetroot * Celery * Cauliflower * Cabbage * Spinach * Green Beans
Of course you should be careful how you prepare such foods. For instance, people like beetroot pickled but this process uses vinegar as a key ingredient and chages the foodstuff to an acidic makeup. You can furthermore munch most nuts and grains, such as lentils, almonds and pumpkin seeds.
Aligning this diet with a diet that reduces the amount of acidic ingredients can also make a difference. So stop or limit items like sweets, fizzy drinks and candy bars.
You ought to also ration your intake of dairy products and meats.

Increase The Odds Of Getting Pregnant Part 2

While attempting to conceive, couples should have sexual intercourse several times per week. Unfortunately, ovulation cycles may shift from time to time. Having sex frequently throughout the month not only increases the chances of conception, it also helps strengthen the emotional connection between a couple. You are much more likely to become pregnant by lying of your back for at least twenty minutes after your partner has ejaculated.
Getting the proper nutrients, and plenty of them, by eating a healthy diet is another step in the right direction. The age-old advice of eating lots of fruits and vegetables, lean meats, and whole grain foods definitely applies; replace white bread, rice and pasta with brown. There are specific vitamins and other nutrients contained in certain foods, which can help prepare your body for pregnancy. Folic acid, a vitamin needed by both mother and baby, can be found in vegetables such as broccoli, lettuce, spinach, cabbage, and kale.
Folic acid is necessary for healthy development of the fetus, and ensuring the proper amount can also help prevent birth defects like spina bifida. There are vitamin supplements with folic acid which can be taken, and folic acid is included in various breads and cereals. Beans, beets, and lean beef are great sources of protein that contain another essential nutrient, iron. Eating these foods helps to prevent the body from becoming iron deficient. Low iron in the blood can adversely effect ovulation and overall ovarian health.
Lean beef, shellfish, seeds, nuts, wholegrain and dairy foods will all help you to produce healthy eggs. Pregnancy will require higher levels of calcium for both you, and your developing child. Be certain to increase your calcium intake while you are trying to become pregnant.
Well, this concludes the second half of some good, sound, practical advice on dramatically increasing your ability for getting pregnant. If you haven’t already, please read the first half of this article to provide yourself with a full range of understanding. There are also many organic herbs and natural remedies you can try if you are still not getting pregnant. In conjuncture with reasonably priced medical technology, you can soon see your home full of the children you desire to have in your life!

Baby Gender Test Kits That Tell You The Sex Of Your Baby
January 31, 2010 by Adrian Hardmann

If you’re like many other expectant parents, you’re probably really excited and wish you could find out your baby’s gender right now even before it is born. While it is a highly accurate baby gender test, amniocentesis is reserved for testing for possible genetic disorders, so too is chorionic villus sampling or CVS testing which examines the placenta, Neither of these are viable solutions for everyday gender testing since they are high risk procedures which can harm the fetus.
Some parents express a strong desire to learn the gender of their baby before its birth. They’ve probably heard all the old wives tales and might have even tried a trick or two, but realize that these are fine for fun and games, but lack reliability. So what is the answer besides biding their time? Well, there are new baby gender test kits that are now available for in home use.
Certainly, the ultrasound sonogram is the most popular and currently most useful baby gender test available. The rate of accuracy is still not 100%, but it’s about as close as you can get short of undergoing amniocentesis or CVS testing. The ultrasound is just about routine for most pregnancies, but for the most accurate results, the 20-week range or mid-second trimester is the best time for determining the baby’s gender.
If you’re one of those expectant parents who are really curious and can’t wait to find out, you’ll be happy to know that there are early gender detection kits available. These kits contain a baby gender test that you can perform in the privacy of your home. Similar to early pregnancy tests, these kits claim to detect the presence of identifying substances as early as the second month of pregnancy.
If you are game for trying out one of these baby gender test kits, there are two popular ones available on the market. Both the Intelligender and Pink or Blue early gender test kits claim to be able to detect your baby’s gender as early as 1 day after a missed period. Even so, you may want to hold off painting the baby’s room
The Intelligender baby gender test works in similar fashion to a early pregnancy test. Just as with a pregnancy test, the mother-to-be’s urine is tested and compared to an included color matching guide. Results are available within ten minutes. While the test kit itself is not expensive and can actually be accurate, bear in mind that false positives are not uncommon. Your results should be confirmed by a doctor to the degree possible.
Pink or Blue is an early pregnancy testing kit that is packaged along with a gender testing kit. The baby gender test is optional and requires a separate payment to the lab where you must send your sample to.for testing. This test kit claims to test DNA,, which theoretically should be more accurate than urine testing. While the pregnancy test is not expensive, the additional cost of the gender testing is around $200,

Maybe Baby? Finding the Right Nutrition for Your Pregnancy
January 29, 2010 by Keith Woolley
Newspapers have been writing a lot about fertility and the fact that more and more women are making a choice to start a family in their 30’s or 40’s. Girls these days are highly likely to have a high flying career and be considering town trips, shoe shopping and sports autos, and a lot less about Mothercare, changing nappies, and pushing carts.
The average age for giving birth in the UK is going up about two months every year. The average age in 2007 was 29.3 years compared with 28.6 years in 2001. Statistics show that the average lady under thirty will get pregnant within the first 6 months and those in their early thirty’s may take up to and longer than nine months. From 35 onwards it might take one year.
Some girls are spending plenty of cash attempting to increase their possibilities of conceiving naturally, but this may be a needless cost. Lord Robert Winston, pioneer of IVF treatment, told the Daily Mail that ladies who freeze their eggs to obstruct parenthood are being given false hopes by fertility clinics. He is going on to say that this does not in any way guarantee that a women will become pregnant or go on to have a healthy baby.
So without ditching the thrilling lifestyle what can you do to help turbo-charge your wellbeing for that ‘maybe baby’ stage? Being healthy is far easier than you might think. Here are a few tips
For her :
Iron
Most ladies recognize iron as an important mineral for good health. Despite this knowledge, iron deficiency is regarded the most common nutritive deficiency and the most influenced group are ladies of child-bearing age. Studies have shown that even delicate deficiencies of iron are linked to reduced fertility. It appears that a deficiency of iron may perform a part in ovulatory dysfunction. Take daily Iron supplements ( look for non-constipating form )
Essential trans acids
The force on girls to remain slim has lead to many women adopting very low fat diets. Unfortunately, this pattern of eating is related to a decline in fertility. The necessary trans-acids ( found in nuts, seeds and oily fish ) have many functions throughout the body, including balancing the hormones concerned in fertility. Try Omega 3-6-9 capsules with a mix of prime quality fish, flax and borage oil.
Multivitamin and mineral formula
A multivitamin and mineral formula has for some time been regarded as a measure for general wellness and as health insurance. Studies now suggest that a multivitamin formula could also be of use for maintaining fertility in women. Studies in the latter 90s proved that ladies who constantly took a multivitamin formula, were less sure to be infertile due to ovulatory failure than people who didn’t. Similarly, the more frequent and regular the supplements were taken, the better the results .
Try Solgar’s Female Multivitamin & Mineral complicated
Vitamin D3

Vitamin D3 ( sometimes called the sunshine vitamin ) could augment the fertility of girls afflicted with ovulation Problems. One in 5 women suffer with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome ( PCOS ) and can have a lesser chance of conception at a later age. Researchers at Yale school college of medication ( 2008 ) concluded ladies with ovulation problems or PCOS were much more sure to be low in vitamin D.
Try 1000iu D3 supplement
For him :
Your better half should be thinking along the same lines as you when it comes to living healthily. Sperm count and motility plays a particularly significant part in the act of making an attempt to become pregnant. Why do all of the hard work when your other half plays an equal part in the middle of conception? current figures ( from Norwich Union Healthcare in 2005 ) show that 2.5 million men suffer from sterility in the UK. Male infertility may account for as much as a 3rd of Problems with conception so it is important that your man takes similar steps to you to keep himself and his sperm in tip top health.
Zinc
Zinc is clearly one of the most vital nutrients needed for fertility, particularly for men. Studies show that a low zinc intake corresponds with a low sperm count and poor sperm motility.
Vitamin C
As an antioxidant, vitamin C is essential for good health. For men, this nutrient plays a particular role in augmenting fertility. Research has shown that vitamin C may help to reduce the clumping together of sperm and thus reinforces sperm motility. Additionally, vitamin C usually reinforces sperm quality and protects the DNA contained within it from damage.

Overcome Infertility With IVF Treatment
January 12, 2010 by Mark Walters
In vitro fertilization (commonly referred to as simply IVF) is a method of assisted reproduction that offers infertile couples a chance to have a baby that is biologically related to them. More than 200,000 babies have been born using IVF and it is now recognized worldwide as an established treatment for infertility.
With IVF, a man’s sperm and the woman’s egg are combined in a laboratory dish. The embryo which forms is then put into the woman’s uterus (womb) to develop naturally. Usually, 3 or 4 embryos are put in the uterus each time. Each attempt is referred to as a cycle, with the cost of each cycle being around $12,000.
So, what exactly is involved in each cycle? Here is a more detailed explanation…
The woman will be administered certain drugs (hormones) to induce her ovaries to create a number (5+) eggs. A surgeon then inserts a needle through the vagina into the woman’s ovary to remove the eggs. General anesthesia is not required when the surgeon does this, but the woman is sometimes administered some sedating medication. At the same time, a semen sample is taken from the man. He is asked not to have sex for half a week before the eggs are taken from his partner. The sperm are separated from the semen in a laboratory procedure.
Following this, the sperm will be mixed in a laboratory dish with the eggs taken from the woman. About 18 hours after this fertilization procedure, the laboratory dish is examined to determine if the egg or eggs have fertilized and if embryos have grown as a result. Should this have happened, they will be incubated over the next 2-7 days. The doctor then transfers the embryos into the woman’s uterus using a catheter (a long slender tube). She is then given a course of hormones to take for the following 10-14 days.
The success rate of this procedure is 36% among women younger than 35 years, 27% for those between 36-39 years, and 13% in those older than 40 years. Therefore, the total cost of IVF is normally more than $20,000, as the odds are against a couple suceeding first time around.
