About Pregnancy: Exercise And Your Baby

December 21, 2009 by Barbara P Manter

Many myths run amok regarding exercise during pregnancy. Some people believe that starting an exercise regime after conception of a child will lead to a miscarriage. Until recently, even some doctors continued to believe old wive’s tales about the harmful effects on the fetus when the mother exercises. However, we now know that the reality is that exercising during pregnancy is not only beneficial to the mother, but also to the baby.

One of the main myths of pregnancy is that you should not do any abdominal exercises. Although these exercises may not be possible to perform in the later parts of your pregnancy, doing core exercises will make getting back to your previous figure easier. Moreover, since core exercises work deep pelvic muscles, you may have a shorter, safer labor for both you and your baby. Also important is the benefit of core exercises on the back, which takes a lot of stress during pregnancy.

Regardless, before embarking on any exercise regimen while pregnant, you should consult your doctor. As a general rule, however, if you had a set regimen before you got pregnant, you should have no complications from continuing that same regimen after. That being said, be sure to monitor your exhaustion level, and remember that staying fit is a great priority, but trying to lose weight for the first time during pregnancy is whole separate thing. If you need to starting losing weight after you have conceived, eat a clean diet.

The best way to determine what level of exercise you can handle after you are pregnant is to continue the original regimen you were on. Then, let your doctor know what cardiovascular and strength training you are doing, and keep him or her informed throughout your pregnancy. By listening to them and your own body, you will be able to monitor you and let you know if it is time to back off on intensity.

One thing you do want to keep in mind before beginning any exercise regimen is body temperature. Your baby’s body does not regulate its own temperature, so you want to make sure that you are performing proper warm up and cool down sessions. Talk to your doctor about this for more specifics.

When it comes to flexibility exercises, while you do not want to completely rid yourself of stretching activities, you do want to keep them to a minimum. The reason for this is a little hormone your body produces in excess during pregnancy called relaxin. This hormone lubricates your joints, so it may seem like you have a greater range of motion, you have to be careful as this increased range also increases your risk of injury.

In addition to limiting deep muscle movements and other flexibility exercises, try to avoid exercises involving your ability to balance. This would include such activities as biking and using roller blades. While fun, your balance will naturally be off during your pregnancy, and while the exercise itself will not harm you, one fall can really hurt your unborn child.

So, while you are pregnant, keep exercising. Your baby will be born with healthier, and you will come out of the labor quicker and in better condition. Use your best judgment, common sense, keep your doctor informed, and remember to listen to your body.

Infertility in couples is considered to be when one or both parties cannot contribute to the pregnancy. When women are unable to carry a pregnancy to the final trimester it can also be considered infertility. There is help available for couples who are experiencing infertility and ways for you to get pregnant. Infertile women do not have their periods consecutively and ovulation is sporadic where women who are fertile have consecutive periods and ovulate regularly before and after each period. The sign of infertility in couples is when the couple is unable to get pregnant even after a year or even years of intercourse without the use of birth control.

Primary infertility is considered to be when a couple has never been able to get pregnant. Secondary infertility is where the couple has been able to to conceive in the past but is now unable to get pregnant. Statistics state that one out of seven couples experience infertility within the relationship. Infertility occurs as women age in life. There are close to six million people in the U.S. that experience infertility in a relationship. There is a higher percentage of women who experience infertility in a couple than men that experience infertility. The are many causes of infertility in both men and women but the common causes are uterian problems, have had a tubal ligation, male infertility, TB, and unknown infertility.

After a year of intercourse without birth control a couple will be asked to go through an examination if they have not got pregnant. The troubles and reasons are determined by a specialist of infertility after tests are completed on both people in the relationship. The couple is also asked questions regarding their sexual experience and the procedure of intercourse. In the case that the doctor is not sure of what is causing the infertility he will have more tests done to see if they can help find the problem. The tests for women that might be experiencing infertility are temperature, times that she ovulates, x-ray of her fallopian tubes, uterus, and laparoscopy. The man’s semen count and analysis is used when considering if the male has infertility problems.

Statistically ninety percent of couples who deal with infertility will receive a conventional method such as drug therapy and surgery to be able to become pregnant while the other ten percent will need difficult surgeries such as IVF to get pregnant. Twenty percent of couples who have used a specialist become pregnant without even being treated for infertility. This is because of the stress they were under when they were trying to become pregnant and not being able to and when they visited the specialist all the stress was relieved. Statistics show that most couples will get pregnant within two years. There is several reasons why a couple will experience infertility including the use of tobacco, alcohol, drugs, dangers in the environment, medicines, cancer treatment, health concerns, and physical and emotional problems.

The treatments for infertility are different for both sexes in a couple. Medications are available today and you should only use the medications after you have consulted a specialist first. The most commonly used treatment is the fertility kit.

Infertility is defined as the inability of a couple to conceive after twelve months of unprotected sexual intercourse. It affects over 5 millions couple alone in the United States and many times more in the world. Female infertility is fairly common nowadays. In about 40% of couples with an infertility problem, the cause of infertility is multifactorial; it is the man who is infertile in 30% of the cases; and as for women, 20% to 25% of experience ovulatory failure and another 20% experience tubal, vaginal, or uterine problems as the cause of their infertility. The controversy now is this: Does Acupuncture Help Infertility?

Acupuncture is one of the oldest healing disciplines in the world and has been practiced in China as well as in other Eastern countries for over five centuries. It is the practice of sticking hair fine needles into the body at various points in order to relieve symptoms or cure illnesses and diseases. When the needles are put into the body, they are said to work by realigning the yin, yang, and chi of a person, which are the balances of nature and life force a person respectively.

According to recent discoveries, there exists an intrinsic connection between acupuncture and infertility. It has been found out that acupuncture is highly effective in treating both male and female infertility. Specified acupressure points are selected for the insertion of the sterilized needles of acupuncture. This makes certain that the functions of the human reproductive organs go on normally, since all the blockades in the path of smooth body energy flow are already removed.

Acupuncture works best when applied along with traditional Chinese medicine, as well as with conventional methods of treatment. It increases the success rate and effectiveness of different assisted technical processes.

Researchers have studied and experimented with a number of different complementary techniques to treat infertility. Acupuncture is one of those techniques that have shown promise.

Mind-Body Infertility Solutions

Through your mind and body you can further add to your fertility solutions by embarking on a series of acupressure treatments that you can perform on yourself in your own home. Self-applied acupressure utilizes the same concept and principles as acupuncture. Its goal is to unblock the body’s energy meridians. The difference is that you use your hands rather than needles to stimulate specific points on your body. You will be focusing on those that are tied to your reproductive health. What is good for your fertility is also good for your general health and well-being.

There are four points that you or someone else can massage. Press these points twice a day, in sequence, morning and night. It doesn’t take that long-just about eight minutes a day. You’ll be boosting your fertility even if you can’t go to an acupuncturist.

The first point is on the sole of your foot. With your sole facing you, apply pressure with your thumbs (next to each other) right below the ball of your foot. Press hard because the soles of the feet are quite thick. Press…then release. Do this pattern for one minute on each foot.

The second point is slightly above the ankle bone. This powerful point stimulates your female energy and strengthens your reproductive organs. Lay fingers horizontally across your ankle area. At the edge of your forefinger, you should feel another bone, located behind your shinbone. Press the tissue area on either side of this bone with your fingers and thumb in the same press and release pattern already described. Switch legs and repeat.

The third point is on the lower part of your thigh. This point has to do with blood flow. Place the palm of your hand on your thigh so that your middle finger is at the edge of your knee. Where your thumb hits on the side of your kneecap is the point you are looking for. When your circulation is better, your health is better-and your fertility boosted.

This last point is located between your thumb and your index finger. Open your hand wide, do you see the V? Find the center of that V. Press gently. Press for a minute on each side. This point is good for the immune system and for good health in general.

As part of your mind-body solution, be sure to incorporate imagining. It’s a stress release and can help to slow you down in your hectic daily routine.

Determine Baby Gender - Pick The Gender of Your Baby

November 11, 2009 by Katie Adler

Parents would seem to choose to want to determine baby gender. A lot of reasons may envelope this desire, for one it seems practical. Although, there are some parents also choose not to know and keep it as a surprise because it the baby’s gender doesn’t really matter for them. It is always your choice if you would want to know or not.

Ultra sound was only invented roughly around 50 years ago, so people only found out how to determine baby gender at that time. So basically, we have just been frantic to take a peek at our ‘gifts’ for only the last 50 years or so. What do you think may be t he reason for this? Well, for one, people have always looked forward to have someone they can teach, usually for men, they would want little boys who can grow up to be like them and for women, girls whom they can pass on their ideas to.

Human beings have the desire to have children as they grow older and it has always been an instinct to procreate. We always would want to share identical views with our partners which mainly would be the reason why we would like to determine baby gender to finalize or plan things out with our better half. Also, some parents may be particular as to what type of color or things they should be buying rather than buying something unisex for a bit.

Women mainly undergo ultrasound accurately see a picture of their babies that helps determine if it is a boy or a girl. There are also other ways to determine baby gender. Commercial pregnancy tests have already been made available for chemical reaction to know a baby’s gender.

Blood tests may be just the most accurate way to determine baby gender. Although there are other pseudo sciences that pose such belief of being able to determine your baby’s gender. It is up to you which among these methods you would like to try out, or if you wish to know at all.

Reduce Stress Related to Infertility

November 10, 2009 by Karol Cardinson

Stress is a funny thing. You feel stressed because you can’t get pregnant, yet that same stress decreases your fertility. Research findings prove this to be true. Women everyday are exhausted by the pressure of trying to juggle their work and home life while doing whatever it takes to get pregnant. What’s the solution? Eliminate stress? Just be happy?

Easier said than done- but not impossible, if you are willing to change your way of thinking. Make your work enjoyable, after all you’re going to be there anyway. Try to overcome the boredom or whatever makes you feel stressed while you are there. Challenge yourself to have fun and laugh at life.

As there is an art in anything you do in life, try implementing this process at your work place. Figure out a better way. Keep challenging yourself in tasks you perform at work to keep it interesting and different.

People might start to think you’re crazy for working so hard, but really you know you’re not crazy or working too hard, just trying to keep yourself challenged.

The point is you make your life the way you chose. It’s all in the way you look at things. Make you sure you let yourself see more than just one side of the coin. There could be a blessing in disguise on the other side of the coin.

The truth is you can never really control the outcome of anything. Don’t jump in and force things. Changing the way you think can change everything-maybe not all at once but a little at a time. Sometimes that is all you need. Be a solution and not a problem.

With all the stresses in life, something has to give. Stress will affect you. You can choose to be happy, enjoy life, and challenge yourself. When you stop challenging yourself, challenges will soon find you. Wouldn’t you rather have the power to choose?

Women struggling with infertility stress that no one else can relate to unless they have gone through it themselves. Know this: Life is precious; every moment is a treasure. At the end of the day, you cannot lose your spirit, your mental perspective. Your soul comes first.

Stress thrives on chaos and uncertainty. That is why it is so important to have a plan when dealing with your fertility issues. You need to understand the whole fertility field so that you can make choices. You must anchor and ground your spirit before you take one more step on the path. You must ensure your intimacy with your partner if you are in a relationship. You must gain perspective and try to put your mind at ease. One of the best ways to do this is through the practice of meditation.

In a broad sense, meditation is the training of our mind and our spirit. People tend to think meditation is just sitting still. But it can take many forms, and it can be for a wide variety of purposes. There is standing meditation, where you squat slightly. There is walking meditation. There are meditations practiced in solitude and meditations practiced in groups, with drumming and dancing. The possibilities are endless. But the number one goal is always the same: learning how to let go of control and any mental distractions and worries you might have.

Everything You Need To Know About Endometriosis And Infertility

October 29, 2009 by Karol Cardinson

Depending on which reference source one reads, women with endometriosis have a fertility rate of 50 to 65 percent, whereas the general population of women has a fertility rate of 88 percent. Among women with endometriosis, it is believed that 30 to 50 percent are infertile, although the true incidence of infertility is unknown, For that matter, no one knows the true incidence of infertility in the general population.

The paradox of infertility in endometriosis is that most of the standard medical treatments for the disease are contraceptive. Endometriosis is essentially an estrogen-dependent disease; the drugs used to treat it deplete the body of estrogen and therefore shrink the endometriomata. But pregnancy also is estrogen dependent. So it’s unlikely that you will become pregnant while you are receiving treatment, and when you go off the drugs in an effort to have a baby, your endometriosis will probably get worse again.

To add to the irony, drugs that increase the chance of conception also tend to exacerbate endometriosis. They have other serious side effects as well, so if you feel as though you are between a rock and a hard place, you are.

What’s more, if endometriosis does indeed cause infertility, then eradication of the disease should render a woman fertile. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work that way. Treatment of mild to moderate disease does not necessarily improve the rate of fertility over doing nothing. You may become pregnant after treatment but according to statistics, the general incidence does not increase. Women who undergo various treatments for endometriosis, and who also are being evaluated for fertility, have variable outcomes in the success of the treatment on fertility. This suggests that endometriosis affects individual women’s ability to become pregnant in different ways.

If the disease is caused by an anatomical abnormality, surgery to correct it may or may not be effective-depending on the skill of your surgeon and whether you develop serious adhesions. If you have the predisposition to endometriosis since you were in your mother’s uterus, chances are the longer you wait, the less likely you are to get pregnant.

If you decide to have surgery (the less invasive the procedure, the greater the chance of preserving whatever fertility you have), timing becomes even trickier. Most physicians believe that there is a postoperative “window of opportunity” that lasts about six to nine months. This is when you luck is at its peak. After about nine months of menstrual periods after surgery, if there are still some endometriomata left in your abdomen, the buildup of scar tissue, cysts, and adhesions will once again impair fertility.

One extremely frustrating thing about endometriosis and infertility is that the disease appears to increase the chance of natural abortion (miscarriage). So there are women who can become pregnant but cannot carry to term. Surgery and medication may help correct this problem, but so far no scientific data exists.

Pregnancy Miracle - Natural Cures For Infertility

October 29, 2009 by Katie Adler

Infertility has been a very pressing issue, especially among men. Usually, it has been found out that it is the males who are at risk for this type of disorder. The sperm that they produce are weak that they will not be able to cause conception, this does not exclude those men who look healthy, as well as men at a young age. Physical appearance and structure is not an assurance that you are sexually competent. Luckily, Natural Cures For Infertility have been developed.

Infertility has been found to be one of the major causes of disputes between husbands and wives. Women who are quite fertile find it difficult to conceive a child because their partners are not able to peak or to reach an orgasm or even have problems with premature ejaculation. This would likely be a root cause of problems in the family and psychological problems between husbands and wives.

Regardless of these differences, there are natural cures for infertility that are proven to be effective. Different techniques can be used like medicines, operations and even using the psychological approach.

Herbs can be used as natural cures for infertility. They produce a noticeable effect in women for their hormonal imbalance and menstrual flow. You can choose to use clover blossoms, chasteberry, wild yam, false unicorn root and licorice. Other varieties include saw palmetto and tribulus.

Fertility can be aided with a combination of red clover blossoms and raspberry leaves. If you would want to balance your sexual hormones, chasteberry is the answer for you. Menstrual difficulties can be solved by using dong quai and it also helps balance estrogen levels in the body to improve chances of egg implantation. Dong quai is most effective during the days between your ovulation and menstruation.

Hemorrhoid Miracle - Hemorrhoids Pregnancy Treatment

October 27, 2009 by Katie Adler

During a woman’s pregnancy, she is prone o a lot of discomfort and hemorrhoids are one of them. This is condition wherein the veins around the anus or the lower rectum appear swollen and inflamed. They may either be internal or external depending on what type of vein was affected. Luckily, there are several trusted hemorrhoids pregnancy treatment available especially for pregnant women.

Pregnant women would experience hemorrhoids usually during their last trimester. This reason for this is that the growing fetus and uterus induce the pressure on the veins on the lower pelvic area. Technically, hormonal changes affect the enlargement of the hemorrhoidal vessels and the typical symptom of pregnancy that is constipation is actually the main culprit for hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids pregnancy treatment may be possible using home remedies or topical creams just as long as there is an initial check up with the doctor. The doctor would be able to determine what would be the best treatment for you, depending on the severity and the type of hemorrhoids you are having.

Most of the time, hemorrhoid pregnancy treatment is centered on relieving symptoms. What follows next is the increase intake of fiber and fluids which would relieve pressure in the hemorrhoidal veins. Also, bowel habit should be modified to cater to specific needs while in treatment.

The doctor may suggest application of topical creams and ointments that are safe to use during pregnancy together with the application of ice pack on the infected area for 10 to 15 minutes, 4 times daily. He would also be advising you to increase your fiber and fluid intake and might suggest some stool softeners in your diet, too. Once you and your doctor have decided on what hemorrhoid pregnancy treatment you wish to have, make sure you remember not to rush whenever you are in the toilet. It is always better to take your time.
