When people think of having a baby delivered they think of doctors and hospitals. But a growing movement among women who are wanting to go more natural is spreading fast. There are some women who are foregoing the medication during delivery to have a more natural delivery.
Part of that movement of going natural is having a midwife to give birth. There are definitely a lot of various advantages to this that in this article we are going to discuss.
First of all some people think using a midwife isn’t safe. Since the doctors have all the medical equipment necessary, they normally think that having a baby with a doctor is the safest thing. But definitely this is not true because most midwife deliveries are only done with safe pregnancies. In other words, it will absolutely not be performed with a midwife, if there is any history of complications. Other then that as a midwife I know first hand midwives know what to do in medical emergencies.
Another criticism is that, normally, midwives will not be using any medication that women definitely need. Because women do not actually need to have drugs for delivery that is why the premise is false. The major reason why most pregnancies take so long, as a matter of fact, are drugs. The drugs cause the birth to stop because it is disrupting the natural delivery. I have seen first hand as a home birth midwife how much faster natural deliveries are. So there is absolutely no need for medication and besides, it can just probably hinder the delivery.
Another criticism is that midwives are not doctors. It does not actually mean that they don’t know what to do medically, while that is true. All midwives absolutely need to go through a hard and legal licensing and certification process. This simple process definitely teaches them all things especially on what medical procedures may need to be performed in specific situations. As a certified midwives practitioner I know first hand that midwives are prepared for emergencies.
As you can see, having a baby with a midwife definitely has more benefits than with those people would have you to believe. It is a safer practice and definitely helps you in order to have a faster delivery than with medications.

What Role A Midwife Performs During Delivery

One of the priceless moments in life is bringing a new baby into the world. Even though it is one of the most precious moments it is one of the most painful for some women. There are many important matters for women during delivery. Most of the times it is because of the concerns that women feel comfortable with having a doctor do the delivery. But in this article we are going to take a look at how a midwife can assist in delivery just as skillfully as a doctor.
First and foremost, a midwife pretty much does the same things a doctor accomplishes during a delivery. The only thing that does not occur a lot is the administration of medicines during delivery. As a midwife service this is a benefit to some and a hindrance to others. But it is for those women who would opt to have a natural delivery that midwives are comfortable with.
The next thing a midwife accomplishes is they can anticipate for almost all emergencies that may happen during a delivery. This is a fear most women have of not using a doctor. But most midwives are only used for pregnancies that are considered safe. If there is a danger of any complications most natural deliveries will not be performed. That is one of the policies that we have in our licensed midwife service.
Lastly, a midwife concedes to a woman’s wish to have the baby delivered at home if they choose. That is one of the major benefits that women look for. At least this is true for most women who don’t want to be administered with all the medicine or undergo the intrusive procedures done in a hospital delivery.
Again, this is only accomplished if a pregnancy is determined to be safe. But for most deliveries like the ones done in my water birth services all safety procedures are done.
So as you have read the role a midwife plays is not so different from that of a doctor. But the advantage they have are for the women that want a natural and sometimes a home birth delivery.
