Losing weight has always been difficult for me to do. Following my 1st child I gained a great deal of weight and thought that all I had to do was jog or walk somewhat a bit ever so often to lose weight and get back to where I once was. It wasn’t like that at all.
I really struggled for weeks attempting as difficult as it was to lose weight with no success. Interestingly enough, I started losing weight fast as soon as I started a new diet I found.
Among the major principles behind the diet plan involved eating well. I in no way seriously believed it at first but if you think about it, it’s fairly obvious that losing weight fast is often rather more difficult if an individual does not eat well. That being said, I chucked out all of the junk food that was in my residence and replaced that food with all sorts of healthy foods, such as wholegrain breads, bran flakes, lean meats and vegetables. Then, I began consuming six small meals each day in order to boost my metabolism to ensure that my body would burn more calories naturally and evenly throughout the day.
Following the above, in order to begin losing weight fast was workout more frequently. I discovered a workout regime that I began utilizing and it began working. I was working out for thirty minutes each day, 5 days a week. Sure, I was sweating a terrific deal when the workouts were over, however it wasn’t like I was dying at the fitness center every single time. All I did was uncomplicated workouts that involved uncomplicated exercises.
Immediately after several weeks of eating appropriately and exercising frequently I began to start losing some weight, even so, I wasn’t losing weight fast. That being said, I tried some diet pills to see how effectively they would work for me. Admittedly, I was somewhat skeptical at very first, however, it turned out that the pills were totally incredible. I noticed the impact of the diet pills about a week soon after I began taking them, the pounds were falling off. Is It OK To Be An Expectant Vegetarian Mother?

There is nothing per se wrong with following a vegetarian regime if you are expecting a baby. Whether you were a vegetarian before you became pregnant or you have chosen to be a vegetarian now that you are pregnant, the issue is the same as that for all mothers-to-be: namely, to make sure that you and the baby have all the vitamins and nutrients that you both need.
This is a somewhat harder quest if you are only beginning down the vegetarian road because of your lack of information, yet it is not that hard. There is so much knowledge on the Internet and in books now, and the doctors will be monitoring you, so you should not miss out on anything you both require.
Your baby will have to grow a few pounds of bones, so calcium is one of your main priorities but it is also one of the nutrients that a non-vegetarian can leave meat to provide. If you are at the stage of being a vegetarian where you eat meals of meat and three veg but without the meat, you must have a serious rethink, and you could take supplements and eat tofu, broccoli and other dark green leafy vegetables like spinach and cabbage.
Vitamin D is simple, but you do require a regular supply of it. Our skin synthesizes Vitamin D from sunlight, so you have to go out in the sun for half an hour a day or more. However, it is no good going out in the midday sun with suntan lotion on.
It is better to go outside in the early morning or late afternoon when the sun is less expected to burn you. It does not even have to be bright sunlight for your body to make Vitamin D.
Vitamin B12 is abundant in red meat, yet hardly present at all in plants. However, there are a few vegetable sources of vitamin B12: soya (tofu) is one of them and vitamin-enhanced vegetarian products (normally cereals) are another.
Even so, you will probably have to take supplements to get enough vitamin B12 for an expectant mother. Luckily, your doctor will be keeping an eye on your Vitamin B12 intake and he or she will be able to advise you.
You will also need lots of iron, which is also plentiful in meat, and also in many vegetables. You have to have iron to keep your blood in decent shape and a lack of iron shows up as aenemia.
Again, dark green, leafy vegetables are the order of the day here as are beans, seeds and nuts. However, due to the amount of iron that you will require, you might require supplements for this one as well.
You require protein. A normal diet gets protein from dairy products like milk and cheese; from eggs and from meat and fish. You may or you may not be eating some of those products, but if you are not then you will have to derive your protein from somewhere else. Tofu is a decent source of vegetable protein, but vegetable protein is a pretty difficult one to find if you do not like tofu.

Take a large portion of moisturizer recommended for babies and run it on the baby’s hands, legs and rub it into the skin of the baby so that the skin looses its dryness and becomes soft and smooth. Low Amounts of Vitamin C in the Body

We need vitamin C in our bodies to help the production of a protein essential to the structure of bones, muscles and cartilages. We nowadays know that this vitamin is also involved in the absorption of iron.

Is It A Good Idea To Take Fish Oil In Pregnancy?

It’s now quite clear that Omega 3 fatty acids found in fish oil are good for your health. But what about during pregnancy?Should you take Omega 3 during pregnancy?
There’s a few questions here. Firstly is fish oil safe to take in pregnancy? Absolutely. There are no documented risks to taking fish oil capsules during pregnancy, for the normal healthy mother.
And the second question is, what are the health benefits to both the mother and the baby of taking fish oil in pregnancy?
Studies suggest a very wide range of health benefits to adults, both healthy and unhealthy, from taking fish oil supplements. So any pregnant mother should get the same benefits. But there’s more which I discuss below.
But most importantly, what are the benefits, if any, to the fetus and later infant from the mother taking fish oil supplements in pregnancy?
Well studies have shown quite a wide range of benefits. About 95% of adults in the US are deficient in DHA, the most important of the Omega 3 fatty acids. You get DHA from fish oil.
The brain is made up of a high percentage of fat, and the most common fat in the brain is DHA. It is essential for good brain development. The fetal brain develops most during the third trimester of pregnancy, and during this time has a high demand for EFAs, or essential fatty acids. If there is a deficiency there are possible implications for brain development and later performance.
Some studies are now showing that fish oil supplements in pregnancy can increase the supply of DHA to the fetal brain with some or all of the following benefits:
Improved brain function. Increased ability to concentrate as a child. Improvements in hand/eye coordination. Improvement in the ability to concentrate. Better sleep patterns in infancy. Improvements in visual acuity. A beneficial, or preventative effect for ADHD.

And studies have also shown that a low level of DHA during pregnancy can lead to a higher risk of premature birth and also to higher risk of needing a cesarean.
So that’s pretty impressive. There’s some serious benefits there. Lets return to the benefits of taking Omega 3 in pregnancy to the mother.
Reduced risk of breast cancer. Lower risk of developing pre-eclampsia. Reduced risk of a cesarean birth. Lower risk of postpartum depression.

So what about eating fish during pregnancy? Well that’s ok except that the US government, through it’s agencies, tells us that fish is contaminated with mercury and we shouldn’t eat a lot, especially if we are pregnant.

Your Nutritionist: Too Fat to Fish?

This morning I got an email from an acquaintance who has just been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. I really try not to read email first thing in the morning, because if I run across a good story like this one, I forget the time and don’t get on to other things.
John loves to eat and loves to drink beer. He is in his mid-fifties and weighs about 20-25 pounds more than he should, so he’s not exactly fat, but he’s certainly not thin either. With this new diagnosis of Type II Diabetes, he is going to have to make some lifestyle changes, if he knows what’s good for him.
John weighs about 225-230 and is 6’1″ His email said that his family practitioner recommended a nutritionist for him after she diagnosed him with diabetes. I think John could get back into shape in about three months.
John took his doctor’s advice and made an appointment with the nutritionist. Upon arriving for his appointment he was checked-in by a receptionist who really could be called obese — she was probably 250 pounds and maybe 5’5″
John thought it was a little odd that a nutrition clinic would have a lardass at the front door, but with all the crazy laws on hiring, he thought that maybe they didn’t have a choice.
He waited for about twenty minutes, before his name was called and he was ushered into a big office. Then the nutrionist arrived, and John was stunned. She was about 5’10″, but she weighed 300 pounds and not an ounce less, according to his story.
She started into her routine, and talked and talked, but John couldn’t hear anything. His mind kept asking him, “Why are the two people I have seen in this nutrition clinic so fat?”
The nutritionist got to the part where she was displaying plastic food to show John about correct portion sizes, but John could not keep silent. Finally he blurted out, “If you know so much about nutrition and the rules of dieting, why are you so overweight?”
The nutritionist stopped talking and looked stunned. Finally she said, as if she had not heard him, “What did you just say?”
So he repeated what he said, “If you know all the rules about dieting, why are you so fat?”
At this point the nutritionist flew off the handle, and started screaming at him, telling him to get out of her office immediately. He obliged, but didn’t think his question was out of line. The receptionist asked him if there was a problem, on his way out, and he said that someone apparently couldn’t handle her own advice.
John went back to see his family practitioner and told her what had happened. His doctor turned red and tried to hold back, but after a moment she just burst out laughing.
After that, John was told of some rules that he really had to pay attention to.
I recommend, as John’s doctor does, supplementation with pharmaceutical grade fish oil, especially for patients with Type II diabetes. Diabetes really ups the risk for cardiac issues, and although John does not have heart problems right now, his risk level is high. Be Weary Mean Taurine

Seven billion cans of energy drinks are consumed every year. Most energy drinks contain highly questionable ingredients such as taurine, introduced by Redbull over 20 years ago. Red Bull added Taurine to its energy drink 20 years ago. No one ever asked why up til now.
Several studies indicate that taurine and caffeine together are a highly toxic mix (see Taurine and Caffeine). So taurine in energy drinks apparently is not only useless, several studies seem to indicate that it is actually damaging for your health, especially when it is synthetic (see Heart Problems with Synthetic Taurine).
Because of these and other studies, taurine is banned in energy drinks in many European countries. Other contries are examining this issue very cafefully.
There is no doubt that energy drinks make us feel more mentally alert and help us perform. I drink some myself once in a while before a long drive or when working late at night. The same way I drink coffee or tea: as a stimulant when I need it.
The problem with most energy drinks is that, for marketing purposes, they include all kinds of other unnecessary and sometimes dangerous ingredients (artificial sweeteners, High Fructose, artificial vitamins). This increases the likelihood that at some time in the future, some health issues will develop. One could argue that many drugs currently being reviewed by the FDA also have potentially overwhelming side-effects. This is why the FDA reviews and rejects drugs where the negatives outweigh the postives. The FDA does not review energy drinks.
So is there another choice? Coffee on its own is not a bad alternative as it doesn’t come with all the artificial ingredients found in the Red Bulls and other products. Then there are some natural energy drinks which basically contain a stimulant (coffee, guarana or tea) plus a minimum of other ingredients. I recommend Guyaki Yerba Matte, GURU Energy Drink, and Sambason Energy. In the case of GURU and Sambason, they also have gone the extra step of making them with entirely organic ingredients.
I am sometimes amazed at how the truth sometimes comes out in the oddest manner. Coping with Chronic Pain

Coping with severe chronic pain from conditions such as arthritis and injuries from sprains and strains affect so many of us. One day you are active and feel great and then the next day you are stiff as a two-by-four. A sprain or strain can occur very easily and it can be simply rectified by stretching more frequently. While a chronic condition like one of the several forms of arthritis, bursistis, and tendinitis affect 70% of the population in North America and will require some sort of treatment or remedy.
Joints are the areas where two bones meet in our body, like a knee,shoulder,hip, or other vertabrea. They make the skeleton flexible ” without them, movement would be impossible. Our joints are so often not thought about until they become painful and cause discomfort; unfortunately then the individual is left coping with severe chronic pain. All joints are cushioned by a substance called cartilage. Cartilage acts as a shock absorber to prevent the bones in our joints from grinding together and wearing down. The bursae are fluid-filled sacs that cushion and pad bony prominences, allowing muscles and tendons to move freely over the bone.
Because of the joints makeup, the joints have limited blood flow and as a result can heal very slowly. Inflammation and waste matter around the joint from injury or chronic condition like that of arthritis can take some time to decrease and it’s that inflammation and waste matter causing the discomfort and reducing your ability to move.
